The crescent moon indicating the start of the month Dhul Hijjah 1446 AH has been sighted in India, confirming Eid al-Adha (Bakrid) to be 7th June 2025.
Eid al-Adha is celebrated on the 10th of Zil Hijjah (which can be referred to as Dhul Hijjah) and is a celebration of great significance for Muslims as it commemorates Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to obey Allah’s command to sacrifice. Lucknow Eidgah Imam, Maulana Khalid Rasheed Firangi Mahali says, “Eid-al Azha moon has been sighted very clearly in Lucknow today. So, Eid-al Azha, i.e., Bakrid will be celebrated in the country on 7th June. Eid-al Azha namaz will be offered at Aishbagh Eidgah in Lucknow at 10 am on 7th June. A detailed advisory on ‘kurbani’ will be issued by Islamic Centre of India soon. Everyone is requested to follow it.”
