According to The Economic Times report, In his will, he had passed on assets worth Rs 500 crore to Mohini Mohan Dutta, a person little-known to the family or billionaire-philanthropist’s inner circle. The mans has been identified as a Jamshedpur-based entrepreneur.

Mohini Dutta is an entrepreneur in Jharkhand’s Jamshedpur. He owned a travel agency called Stallion. Reports suggest that Stallion merged with a subsidiary of the Taj Group of Hotels, Taj Services In 2013. Dutta and the family held 80 percent stake in Stallion. The remaining was owned by the Tata Group.
Dutta has two daughters. One of them worked for Tata Trusts for nine years. She was an employee of Taj Hotels before that. ET reported citing sources that Mohini Mohan Dutta used to describe himself as being close to Tata family members.
Reports indicate that while the will names Dutta as one of the beneficiaries of Tata’s fortune, the distribution will only happen after the will goes through probate and is certified by the High Court. This process is expected to take at least six months.
Mohini Dutta is believed to have met Ratan Tata at the Dealers Hostel in Jamshedpur when he was just 24 years old. It is said that they shared a close association lasting nearly six decades. Dutta was reportedly invited to Ratan Tata’s birth anniversary celebrations held at the NCPA in Mumbai in December 2024, which was attended only by Tata’s close associates and family.

Ratan Tata’s will was made public about two weeks after his passing, revealing how the business tycoon had distributed his wealth among various beneficiaries. This included his brother, half-sisters, his loyal household staff, and his trusted executive assistant, Shantanu Naidu. Tata also made special provisions to ensure that his beloved pet dog, Tito, would receive lifelong care. The stakes in Tata Sons were transferred to the Ratan Tata Endowment Trust. His assets included a beach bungalow in Alibaug, a two-story house in Juhu, fixed deposits worth over Rs 350 crore, and a significant stake in Tata Sons.
