IPL 2023 Covid Rules

Is there a risk of Covid-19 in the IPL this time? If a player tests Covid-19 positive during the IPL 2023, the BCCI has issued an order requiring at least 7 days of isolation.

Unlike the last three seasons following the pandemic, IPL 2023 will not necessarily feature bio-secure bubbles. Whereas the IPL stated that they want to be cautious and that if any players are Covid-19 positive this season, they will be barred from participating in any practice or matches unless their Covid-19 get negative. Unfortunately, their obligatory negative test cannot be performed before the fifth day of recuperation.

According to ESPNcricinfo, the medical standards for the IPL state that “although there has been a drop in the frequency of Covid-19 cases in India. But, we must be aware of the rising tensions that are becoming a source of concern at regular intervals. Positive cases should be isolated for no more than seven days. The positive patients will not be allowed to participate in any match or event of any type throughout the period of isolation.”

“From the fifth day, they can undergo RT-PCR and they should be asymptomatic for 24 hours without any medicine. If the first test is negative, a second test should be performed within 24 hours. Players can rejoin the squad only after having two negative RT-PCR tests at an interval of 24 hours i.e. on day five and day six.”
