During the 1998 ICC Champions Trophy competition Jacques Kallis secured 8 wickets to become the leading wicket-taker. During the 2000 edition of the tournament Indian player Venkatesh Prasad became the leader with his ten wickets. The Sri Lankan cricketer Muttiah Muralitharan secured 9 wickets in 2002 to become the leading wicket taker of that year.

During the 2004 edition Andrew Flintoff of England joined Muttiah Muralitharan to split the most wickets honor as each player obtained 9 wickets. The West Indian cricket team lead by Jerome Taylor secured the most number of wickets with 13 in 2006. The year 2009 saw Wayne Parnell of South Africa claim 11 wickets in that tournament. The Indian cricket player Ravindra Jadeja earned the title in 2013 by obtaining 12 wickets throughout the World Cup competition. In the 2017 tournament Hasan Ali from Pakistan became the leading bowler by obtaining 13 wickets.

Throughout the history of the ICC Champions Trophy many players secured top positions as the leading run-scorers in multiple format editions. The highest run-scorer in 1998 ICC Champions Trophy was Philo Wallace from the West Indies who accumulated 221 runs. In the year 2000 Sourav Ganguly from India accumulated 348 runs for the championship. Sourav Ganguly made his second appearance as highest run-scorer at the ICC Champions Trophy in 2002 after delivering 271 runs.

Virender Sehwag achieved the record run total of 261 in the 2004 edition. During the 2006 installment West Indian batsman Chris Gayle earned 474 runs to claim the leading position. During the 2009 tournament Ricky Ponting of Australia finished with 288 runs while Shikhar Dhawan of India became the leading run-scorer in 2013 with 363 runs. During the 2017 competition Dhawan achieved 338 batting runs which made him the main run-producer for that season.
