A 25-year-old from Haryana’s Gurugram, Radhika Yadav, was shot dead by her father at her home. She was a resident of Sushant Lok 2, which lies in the eastern part of Gurugram witnessed this horrific crime on Thursday morning. According to tenniskhel.com, Radhika ranked 113 in the International Tennis Federation (ITF). The website displayed that she was born on 23 March 2000 and, as a doubles tennis player, was ranked within the top 200 in the ITF doubles. She had participated in various events, including matches against Viswanadh Harshini, Bougrat Maelys, Sun Yifan, Maruri Suhitha, and Mashabayeva Dilnaz, News18 reported.

Sandeep Kumar, public relations officer of Gurugram Police, said initial findings suggest that a social media post led to tension in the house. “The father became agitated and shot her. The weapon used was a licensed revolver and has been recovered from the house,” he said.

Rajender Kumar, Station House Officer of Sector 56 Police Station, said the police received information about the incident from the hospital. “We received a call from the hospital regarding a woman admitted with gunshot wounds. By the time we arrived, she had passed away. Statements from family members confirmed that the father was responsible,” he said.

According to reports, her father was allegedly frustrated and disliked her frequent posting on social media and her constant reel-making for Instagram. He shot her five times, three of which hit her. She was immediately taken to the hospital, where she eventually succumbed to her injuries while undergoing treatment.
