Delhi Capitals bowler Mukesh Kumar has been fined 10% of his match fees and was handed one demerit point for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct after DC received a shocking 59 runs defeat against Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. This also means that DC is now out of playoffs race and Mumbai became the fourth team to qualify for IPL 2025 playoffs.
BCCI Slaps Mukesh Kumar With Fine & One Demerit Point
Mukesh Kumar’s actions were deemed a Level 1 offence which comes under Article 2.2 of the IPL Code of Conduct that deals with misuse or abuse of cricket equipment or ground fixtures. Mukesh was seen visibly frustrated during the match.
“Mukesh Kumar admitted to the Level 1 offence under Article 2.2 (Abuse of cricket equipment or clothing, ground equipment or fixtures and fittings during a Match) and accepted the Match Referee’s sanction,” the IPL said in a release.

Delhi Capitals Knocked Out Of Playoffs Race
Delhi was chasing a target of 181 but the sudden batting collapse resulted in DC’s innings being piled up at mere score of 121. DC also became the first team to miss out on the playoffs despite winning their four consecutive opening games of the season.
DC’s chase was never smooth, there was a complete batting collapse, Sameer Rizvi (39) and Ashutosh Sharma (18) tried to put in a partnership but Mitchell Santner didn’t let that stay for long. Mukesh Kumar was the only bowler who picked two wickets for DC.

Mukesh Kumar Takes 2 Wickets Against MI
Mukesh Kumar took two wickets and registered figures of 2/48 but his final over proved to be costly as he conceded multiple boundaries from Naman Dhir who struck two fours and two sixes. Mumbai scored a total of 180/5 and on the tricky surface of Wankhede, DC was left completely dismantled and out of control.
