Champions Trophy 2025: Tensions Rise As BCCI Vs PCB Rift Intensifies – ICC Releases New Trophy Tour Schedule

The International Cricket Council has made changes in the Trophy tour itinerary of Champions Trophy 2025 following objections by the Board of Control for Cricket in India. It will, therefore, not visit Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) areas like Muzaffarabad, Skardu, and the Hunza Valley, as the BCCI had raised a hue and concern over these locations featuring in the tour.

BCCI Urges ICC To Take Strict Action Against PCB

This tour was initially planned in PoK cities by PCB, but BCCI Secretary Jay Shah has been critical of this move, because he said the PCB did not consult key stakeholders like ICC, before finalizing it. And it is due to which, ICC had asked PCB to remove PoK cities from its tour.

“The BCCI secretary, after it came to his notice, called up the ICC and was extremely critical of PCB’s move to conduct a Trophy tour of multiple cities which fall under Pakistan Occupied Kashmir,” PTI quoted a senior BCCI official privy to the development as saying.

“He has urged the ICC to take strong action. As far as Islamabad is concerned, there is no issue but there can’t be any Trophy tour to POK,” the source added.

“We are delighted to launch the Trophy Tour with DP World ahead of the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy, where another action-packed programme of activity is available to fans across the world,” Anurag Dahiya, ICC Chief Commerical Officer, said in a statement.

Updated Schedule Of Trophy Tour

The schedule is updated to begin the Trophy’s journey from Islamabad on November 16 with additional stops scheduled in Karachi, Abbottabad and Taxila. The Pakistan leg will end on November 25, after which the trophy will proceed to Afghanistan, Bangladesh, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, and England. It will complete its final leg back in India and then to Pakistan for the tournament.
