Rajasthan Royals batter Riyan Parag caused confusion after he continued to play with a bat that apparently failed the umpire’s standard gauge test. The incident occurred in match against Delhi Capitals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. In the last few games, umpires have been regularly checking players’ bats on their arrival at the crease to verify if they comply with the league’s rules.
When Parag came in to bat after skipper Sanju Samson retired injured, his bat was checked similarly. But match referees seemed to be struggling with attempting to slide the bat along the measuring gauge, suggesting it might have been more than allowed. Nonetheless, Parag was allowed to proceed using the same bat, leaving spectators bewildered and fueling social media debate regarding rule consistency.
