England Seal ODI Series By 3-0 Despite Rain Hit Final Against West Indies

The result left the West Indies winless across six matches - three T20Is and three ODIs.

England registered a dominant white-ball tour with a 3-0 whitewash over the West Indies in the ODI series, winning a rain-affected game at Taunton. Captain Nat Sciver-Brunt put on a destructive display of 57* off 33 deliveries, leading her side to a nine-wicket win by the DLS standard. The result left the West Indies winless across six matches – three T20Is and three ODIs.

England had Sciver-Brunt and Sophia Dunkley opening, with established opener Amy Jones shifted down the lineup and Tammy Beaumont was rested. Dunkley made a quick beginning, hitting 26 from 21 before being dismissed by Karishma Ramharack, leaving Sciver-Brunt to see England through to the meager 107-run goal in 10.5 overs.

Capsey Finishes It Off As England Dominate Again

Alice Capsey, promoted to No. 3 from Emma Lamb, contributed a cheeky 20 not out off just 11 deliveries as England eased to 109 for 1, clinching the game and series with ease. They were helped in their pursuit by a reduced target after a five-hour rain break that trimmed the game to 21 overs per team.

West Indies Struggle After Promising Start

West Indies, who were sent in to bat under somber skies, folded early after Kate Cross picked up Realeanna Grimmond in the first over. Pressure was mounted by Em Arlott with two further rapid wickets, scattering the top order and leaving the tourists reeling at 4 for 3.

Qiana Joseph and Aaliyah Alleyne made their significant contribution. Joseph scored 34, with Alleyne blasting five straight boundaries in a brave 27 from 18 to get West Indies up to 106 for 8. Sarah Glenn played a starring role after the delay, taking three vital wickets, among them the free-scoring Joseph.

Rain Disruption Fails To Stop England’s Momentum

The game was greatly affected by rain, with the play being interrupted for five hours from 12.3 overs. West Indies were 43 for 3 at that stage. Glenn and Charlie Dean squeezed on resumption, and Dean hit on her return ball to stump stand-in captain Shemaine Campbelle.

Glenn’s solidity was maintained as she bowled Shabika Gajnabi and sent Joseph packing, while Lauren Filer and Alice Davidson-Richards also made important contributions with the field.

Rotation Plan Benefits England

England maintained their rotation policy, giving Lauren Bell and Linsey Smith a break for this match and introducing Glenn and Dean into the team. Arlott was back on duty after missing the last ODI and made a telling contribution.

The victory showed England’s depth and versatility, and the West Indies were left to ponder on a tour without any triumph.
