After India’s T20 World Cup 2024 victory in Barbados, both Rohit and Virat Kohli retired from the shortest version of the game. As per BCCI sources, a post-tournament meeting between Rohit and chairman of selectors Ajit Agarkar will decide his fate.
Shubman Gill On Retirement Talks
In contrast to most teams in which selectors unilaterally make decisions on retirement, Indian cricket typically gives old players the discretion of making common choices with the board. Rohit Sharma’s retirement speculations gained more momentum when he avoided the pre-game media conference. His deputy Shubman Gill too declined comments, and said “no discussions on retirement”, citing how delicate the issue was at this time.
