The 2025 Indian Premier League season would resume this Saturday, May 17, with Royal Challengers Bengaluru taking on Kolkata Knight Riders, the BCCI declared on Monday, May 12. The league will have 17 remaining games, with the grand finale scheduled for June 3. The venues of playoffs are still not announced and BCCI will be releasing that later.
The resumption of the tournament was decided after discussion with government, security agencies, and other stakeholders. The board reiterated that the new plan is safe and logistically viable in the prevailing situation.
Only two doubleheaders feature in the revised schedule now, both scheduled on Sundays. Qualifier 1 and the Eliminator will be on May 29 and May 30 respectively, with Qualifier 2 being on June 1.
In a shift from previous rumors, the tournament will be staged over six cities now—Bengaluru, Delhi, Lucknow, Jaipur, Mumbai, and Ahmedabad. As expected, southern venues like Chennai, Hyderabad, and Mullanpur have been excluded.
