The IPL was formally suspended on Friday, May 9, after the Punjab Kings vs. Delhi Capitals match in Dharamsala was abandoned due to blackout. Cricbuzz reports indicate the board is eager to conclude the league by the end of May and is looking for a 12–14-day window to fit in the remaining matches. The schedule might include a couple of extra doubleheaders to achieve this deadline.
IPL 2025 Resume Date & Shortlisted Venues
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is all geared up to resume the Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) and it is likely to start from May 16 and the final is likely to be held on May 30. After the recent suspension the remaining fixtures will be held accorss three cities – Chennai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad.
Final Likely To Be Played On May 30
“As the IPL was suspended for a week, there is a possibility of the IPL final now being played on May 30 instead of May 25 with limited venues. The schedule will be sent to all IPL teams by tonight,” source in the BCCI informed as mentioned by The Indian Express
BCCI Asks All The Teams To Report Back
According to the report, BCCI has already asked all the teams to report to their respective venues by Tuesday following which the IPL can be resumed by May 16, Friday. For Punjab Kings the situation is a little different, they’ll not be reporting to their home venue.
“All franchises have been told to inform its team to report to their respective destination by Tuesday,” a source in the Indian board confirmed.
The IPL 2025 new schedule is likely to be out soon and Gujarat Titans have already started to practice which makes it even more clear that the BCCI will make sure that the IPL is back in full swing.
