Australia all-rounder Glenn Maxwell believes that India’s star of the future, Yashasvi Jaiswal, will do remarkable things in his Test career, going on to score over 40 Test hundreds. The young batter who smashes 161 off 297 balls in the second innings of the first Test at Optus Stadium in Perth has been doing quite a few things. His knock was marked by a prudent start against the new ball, after which he opened up his attacking game to tire out the Australian bowlers.
“Jaiswal Can Get More Than 40 Hundreds”
“He’s (Jaiswal) a guy that will probably get more than 40 Test hundreds and write some different records. He’s got a great ability to adapt to different conditions. It’s going to be scary if Australia can’t find a way to stop him over the next few games,” said Maxwell on ‘The Grade Cricketer’ podcast.
Yashavi Jaiswal: An Exceptionally Skilled Indian Batter
The 22-year-old earned full praise from Maxwell, appreciated how the young man could change gears on and off the field and play an array of strokes while remaining cautious. Jaiswal’s consistency is reflected in his record, with 1568 runs from 15 matches at an average of 58.07, with four centuries and eight fifties. This year, he is the second-highest run scorer in Test cricket, having accumulated 1280 runs in 12 matches at an average of 58.18, with three hundreds and seven fifties.
Maxwell On Jaiswal’s Technique
“He played a lot of shots that will be on highlights packages, but the stuff he did in between… the balls he left, the balls he got in behind… His footwork is pretty crisp; doesn’t seem to have many weaknesses. Plays the short ball well, drives well, plays spin unbelievably well and can absorb pressure for periods of time,” he added.
