Rohit Sharma has brought all the talk on his future in cricket to a close. Instead of giving an answer to a question, he issued a distinct and definitive announcement on what he planned. In the after-effects of the routine post-Champions Trophy final press conference, he used the occasion to point out that he did not plan to retire from cricket.
Rohit Sharma On His Retirement
“I am not going to retire,”
“One more thing. I’m not going to retire from this format, just to make sure that no rumours are spread moving forward,”
Future plan? There is no future plan. What is going on, will continue,” Rohit remarked
Rohit Sharma’s Performance In Champions Trophy 2025
He totalled 180 runs throughout the tournament and went past the 11,000-run barrier in ODIs. In a career spanning 273 matches, he has made 11,168 runs with a staggering average of 48.76 and has 32 centuries to his credit, three of which have been double hundreds.
Rohit Sharma Not Retiring Anytime Soon
There had been talks regarding his possible retirement during the entire Champions Trophy, especially after he had walked away from T20Is after India’s winning tour in the T20 World Cup in Barbados last June. Then, as soon as he had clinched the title, he had declared retirement in the shortest of the three formats.
Likewise, there has been constant speculation about Virat Kohli’s future in cricket. But the former India captain has come back strongly in the Champions Trophy, recovering from a poor run. He has scored 218 runs in the tournament, including a century, in five matches. Like Rohit, Kohli too had retired from T20Is after India’s victory in Barbados last year.
