Mumbai Indians delivered a dominant all-round performance to register a massive win over Rajasthan Royals, becoming the second team after CSK to knock a side out of the tournament this season. With this emphatic victory, MI have reached the top of the IPL 2025 points table and extended their winning streak to six consecutive matches, firmly establishing themselves as the team to beat.
MI had never won in Jaipur since 2012 and they posted a joint-highest total at this ground. Ryan Rickelton (61), Rohit Sharma (53), Suryakumar Yadav (48) and Hardik Pandya (48) were the top batters for MI who helped set a massive total of 217. Karn Sharma (3 wickets), Trent Boult (3 wickets), Jasprit Bumrah (2 wickets) completely ripped apart Rajasthan’s batting lineup following which MI achieved a massive 100 runs win.
After the match, MI skipper Hardik Pandya reflected on the win and lauded the combined team effort.
“The way we batted, and we were clinical with the ball – so absolutely [a perfect game]. We could have got another 15 runs. What we were trying to speak to each other was to play percentage shots. Surya and I said there’s value for shots… Ro and Ryan batted the same way. I think it was absolutely fantastic. It is never about people getting chances; it’s about what is required in the situation. People are going back to batsmanship.
“As a group, the way we batted was proper batsmanship. I don’t know who all to mention [among the bowlers]. Everyone is really clear. We’re going back to simple cricket, and it’s working for that. We want to take game by game, and be humble and disciplined.” Hardik Pandya said in Post-match presentation
