Vinod Kambli’s wife, Andrea Hewitt, in a candid conversation recently spoke on her husband’s long battle against alcohol addiction as well as what she has endured emotionally. It was during such an interview where Andrea revealed that she once filed for a divorce due to Kambli’s addiction issue but later backed out when he appeared vulnerable multiple times while making attempts at treatment. Kambli has already been treated 14 times to get rid of his addiction.
Vinod Kambli’s Wife Opens Up
Andrea is Kambli’s second wife, after his first marriage to Noella Lewis. She met the former cricketer when he saw her in a ‘Tanishq’ advertisement. The couple married quietly in a civil ceremony in 2006. Though life has been tough, Andrea has stood by her husband, even accompanying him to the 50th-anniversary celebration of Wankhede Stadium earlier this month, where she was seen assisting him as he received an award from legendary cricketer Sunil Gavaskar.

Thought About Divorce
“I once thought about it (separating). But I realised that he would be helpless if I leave him. He is like a child, and that hurts me. It makes me feel worried. I would not even leave a friend, and he is obviously more than that. I remember there were moments when I would just walk away. But then I would be worried: Has he eaten or not? Is he on the bed properly? Is he okay? Then I had to check on him, and I would understand that he needed me,” she said to freelance journalist Suryanshi Pandey on her poadcast
Vinod Kambli’s Son Understood Everything
“Most of the time, I had to explain the situation to myself, I am ‘Papa’ and I am the ‘mom’ in the family. My son Cristiano understood everything, he didn’t bother me at all, he understood all the emotions on my face,” she added.
Andrea reflected on this tough period saying that she actually thought of walking out on Kambli and was even contemplating getting a divorce once. But being deeply concerned with his well-being, she again changed her decision. She continued to explain the difficulties in providing care for their children while handling all the struggles concerning her husband’s health but says she was indeed grateful for all the support provided by their son Christiano. Even at four, Christiano was sensitive to the family situation and would always show concern about his mother’s mental health.
