Mooen Ali has given a big warning and believes that Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma’s retirement from Test cricket will provide “massive boost” to England. With India’s both experienced players stepping away the England tour will be very challenging in the English conditions.

It is expected that Shubman Gill will take over the captaincy and will be leading a squad that is less experienced as the new World Test Championship cycle begins. Mooen Ali praised Rohit Sharma’s performance in the 2021 England tour where he scored 368 runs with an average of 52.57. Ali further went on to laud Virat Kohli’s immsense contribution in Test cricket and even compared his impact with Sachin Tendulkar.

“Definitely, I think it’s a massive boost for England. Two top players who’ve been to England a few times on tour, so they have experience,” said Moeen on Sky Sports. Both Rohit and Kohli have had their times of peril and glory in whites in England. Kohli had a famously forgettable series in 2014 before plundering runs in 2018. Rohit put in what is rated as the best performance of his Test career in India’s 2021 tour of the country,” he added.

“I remember Rohit playing really well the last time they were in England. The character they have, the leaders they (are), both of them have captained India in Test cricket, so yeah a massive loss for the team,” said Moeen.

With Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma out, England definitely has an edge and the upcoming Tests will be a very big challenge for Team India.
