The Royal Challengers Bengaluru ended their trophy drought and won their first ever IPL title under the captaincy of Rajat Patidar. This was his debut season as captain and Patidar achieved what seemed to be impossible for many other legends. In the IPL Final against Punjab Kings, RCB had set the total of 190 runs and even though PBKS got a strong start, RCB bounced back in from the jaws of defeat and etched their name as winners of IPL 2025 season.

Virat Kohli and his wife Anushka Sharma celebrated RCB’s maiden title win together. The couple was seen overjoyed with emotions as the 18 years long wait came to an end.

Virat Kohli credited his family and the management after RCB’s win and said “This win isn’t mine. It’s not just the team’s. It belongs to Bangalore. To every fan who waited 18 years. To every family member, every support staff, every person who stood by us. We are champions. And we did it — together.”

“It’s been 11 years for her as well, you know. Relentlessly coming to games, watching tough games, watching us just miss out,” Virat Kohli gave credit to Anushka Sharma for being there as his support system inspite of losses the team faced.

“What your life partner does for you to be able to play, and the sacrifices, and the commitment, and just backing you through thick and thin, is something you can’t explain in words. Only when you play professionally, you understand the amount of things that go on behind the scenes, and what they go through as well.” said Kohli

“What Anushka has gone through emotionally, watching me, being down and out, her coming to games, being so connected with Bangalore, she’s a Bangalore girl as well, and being connected to RCB, this is very, very special for her as well, and she’s going to be so, so proud,” said Kohli.
PBKS played exceptionally well and restricted RCB at the target of 190 but the RCB bowlers outshined everyone with Krunal Pandya, Yash Dayal and Bhuvneshwar Kumar taking the charge at the right time. The Challengers clinched the title with a narrow margin of 6 runs as Shashank Singh’s efforts were in vain despite hitting Josh Hazlewood for 6,4,6,6 in the last over of the match.
