West Indies cricket great Andy Roberts has severely criticized the International Cricket Council (ICC), accusing the body of favoring India when it comes to scheduling marquee events.
His comments are just days after West Indies legend Viv Richards raised an eyebrow over why India will host all their Champions Trophy 2025 games in Dubai. Roberts has now targeted the ICC for prejudging India’s T20 World Cup 2024 semifinal venue as well.
The retired fast bowler did not hold back and he went on to say that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has a large say in the decisions of the ICC.

“Something’s got to give… India can’t get everything. The ICC must say no to India at times. India even had an advantage at last year’s T20 World Cup, where they knew in advance where their semi-final would be played,” Roberts told Mid-Day.
“At the Champions Trophy, India did not have to travel at all. How can a team not travel during a tournament?” the 74-year-old asked
“To me, the ICC stands for the Indian Cricket Board. India dictates everything. If tomorrow, India says, ‘listen there should be no no-balls and wides,’ take my word, the ICC will find a way to satisfy India,” he said.
There have been several cricketers who have accused India of getting unfair advantage in Dubai, as the Indian Team played all of their matches in Dubai.
