The Rajasthan Royals’ IPL 2025 season saw another rollercoaster twist after a shocking two-run loss to Lucknow Super Giants at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on April 19. The game itself was thrilling with debut of 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi, the youngest player in IPL history. But RR’s defeat has now been trumped by an emerging controversy.
What Happened In RR vs LSG Match?
They were chasing a score of 181 and needed only nine runs off the last over. With Dhruv Jurel striking and Shimron Hetmyer at the opposite end, the chances seemed to be in their favor. But pacer Avesh Khan kept his cool, getting Hetmyer out on the third ball and giving away just three runs in the last three balls, as RR came up short at 178/5.

Jaideep Bihani Lays Down Big Accusation
After the narrow loss, Jaideep Bihani, an MLA from Sri Ganganagar and convenor of the government-nominated ad hoc committee of the Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA), made sensational revelations in an interview with News18 Rajasthan. Bihani wondered how a team could lose at home in such favorable circumstances and hinted indirectly at foul play, suggesting that the match could have been rigged.
RR Management Not Letting RCA Get Involved
Fueling the fire further, Bihani also lambasted the Royals’ management for keeping RCA out of any role in the organizational side of the IPL this season. These accusations are made at a time when RR are struggling in eighth position on the points table, with only two victories from eight games.

AD-Hoc Committee To Step In
“The ad hoc committee has been appointed by the state government in Rajasthan. It has extended for a fifth time. We make sure all competitions take place without any issues. But then just as IPL came, the Zila Parishad (district council) took control of it. For IPL, the BCCI had first sent a letter to RCA only, not Zila Parishad. The excuse given by them and RR that we don’t have an MOU from Sawai Mansingh Stadium. If MOU is not there, so what? Aren’t you paying Zila Parishad for every match?”
With controversies piling up and their season slipping away, Rajasthan Royals now have pressure both on and off the field.
