Yashasvi Jaiswal Eyes A Historic Feat, Will He Break Rahul Dravid And Virender Sehwag’s Record?

Yashasvi Jaiswal is all geared to face New Zealand in a three-match Test series with the first Test starting on October 16.

The 22-year-old Yashasvi Jaiswal has been an astonishing new opener in red-ball cricket. He is now the top run-getter for India in the ongoing WTC cycle, and he is all set to become the first Indian to score 1,500 runs in a single WTC cycle. Ajinkya Rahane, who had scored 1,159 runs in the last cycle, was the previous record holder, and Jaiswal busted this record in the series against Bangladesh. In the first cycle of WTC, only Root was not able to cross 1,500 runs; four players crossed it in the second cycle-including Root and Labuschagne once again besides Babar Azam and Usman Khawaja.

Yashasvi Jaiswal To Become Highest Run-Getter In WTC Cycle

Jaiswal stands at the top of the list for the highest run-getter of this WTC cycle, with only Joe Root ahead of him. Since no batsman has aggregated more than 2,000 runs in a single WTC cycle, Jaiswal might be the first to do so if he continues scoring runs in all the remaining Tests scheduled for his country. He will also be the quickest Indian to amass 2,000 Test runs. Rahul Dravid and Virender Sehwag are holding the record now, which they achieved in 40 innings.
