Mitchell Starc has informed Delhi Capitals (DC) that he won’t be coming back to India for the remainder of the IPL 2025 season. The experienced pacer has opted out of the league, clearing a smooth way towards his build-up towards the approaching World Test Championship (WTC) final. Starc leaves the tournament as DC’s most successful bowler this season, having taken 14 wickets in 11 matches at an average of 26.14, underlining his impact despite DC’s roller-coaster campaign.
Overseas Player Uncertainty For DC
While Tristan Stubbs has indicated his availability for the rest of the league stage, he will be leaving well before the WTC final. However, no official confirmation has still been received about Faf du Plessis’ return to the team, further complicating the overseas availability issue.

In a second roster change, DC have retained Mustafizur Rahman as a replacement for Jake Fraser-McGurk, who is not returning to the IPL this season. But Mustafizur’s availability is uncertain, as the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has yet to receive any official request for a No Objection Certificate (NOC). Currently, Mustafizur is in Sharjah, playing for Bangladesh in a T20I series against the UAE.
Australian Player Updates Across IPL Franchises
Among other Australian players, Pat Cummins and Travis Head will both return to Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), now out of the playoff contention and finishing their season by May 25 providing both with enough room for breathing before focusing on the WTC final.
