Mitchell Starc to Rahul Tewatia, FOUR, Tewatia finishes it in a couple of balls. Buttler runs to hug him and he has a big smile on his face. Starc nails the yorker, Tewatia
The early part of IPL 2025 delivered a huge series of victories to Delhi Capitals and Gujarat Titans, as both teams positioned themselves strongly for playoff entry. This pole-position battle between the two teams takes place during the first-placing showdown at Narendra Modi Stadium because this year’s IPL still has a significant number of matches to go.
Gujarat Titans completed their rest period since their last Saturday day game in the IPL 2025 campaign. After their Lucknow defeat, GT experienced a lengthy relaxing interval, whereas DC continued from their third match of this time span. The DC team faced two nail-biting contests in their home stadium first conceding defeat to MI yet winning by a narrow margin against RR in a super over thus reclaiming their position on top of the table. This game arrives during a laborious week for Delhi Capitals and will test their strength levels to sustain their current position.
GT suffered a match loss in their most recent contest because their solid start through Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan’s opening combination led to insufficient scoring which did not pressure LSG’s batting strength. The GT players have produced outstanding results throughout their team while showcasing elite-level skills yet they face doubts about achieving the next level of boost in their match performance. Sai Sudharsan needs a reliable big hitting stroke because it will help him consistently accelerate when batting during the middle overs.
Mohit Sharma to Buttler, FOUR, off-speed full delivery right in the slot, Buttler waits and smashes it over the bowler's head. Mohit rightly ducked under it as the ball went like a bullet
- Rutherford hits Kuldeep for a sixer- Rutherford goes after Mohit and hits him for a couple of sixes- Buttler brings up his fifty- Starc concedes five fours in an over to Buttler- Kuldeep bowls a tight over to finish his spell
Mitchell Starc to Buttler, FOUR, make that five in a row! Buttler takes on this short ball with a pull shot. It's a mishit and Vipraj runs in from deep square leg. Dives forward and the ball falls just short of him. To make matters worse, the ball eludes him to reach the fence. Buttler, meanwhile, throws his bat in pain. Must be cramps!
Mitchell Starc to Buttler, FOUR, wow! 140.4kph, very full from round the wicket, Buttler makes room by backing away
Kuldeep Yadav to Rutherford, SIX, looped up, slightly overpitched and Rutherford tonks it over long-off. The back leg is slightly bent and he's smoked it for a 90m six. The bottom hand came off the bat handle
Kuldeep Yadav to Rutherford, FOUR, quick leggie outside off, Rutherford is slightly off-balance as he reaches out for a cut. Makes good contact and beats the diving backward point fielder to his right
Vipraj Nigam to Buttler, SIX, third six for Buttler and all of them have come against Vipraj Nigam. Fullish delivery, Buttler leans forward, gets under it and bludgeons it straight down the ground
Kuldeep Yadav to Sai Sudharsan, out Caught by Stubbs!! Kuldeep Yadav strikes in his first over! 88kph, legbreak and it's a short ball. On seeing the length, Sai Sudharsan rocks back to cut hard. Hits it flat and picks out the man at deep midwicket.
Mukesh Kumar to Sai Sudharsan, FOUR, an overpitched delivery outside off, Sai Sudharsan squeezes it through backward point for four runs. Back-to-back boundaries for the southpaw
Axar to Buttler, FOUR, tad short outside off, Buttler rocks back and carves it uppishly through the off-side for a boundary. Runs coming thick and fast for GT despite losing their captain
Mukesh Kumar to Shubman Gill, out Shubman Gill Run Out!! Shubman Gill has thrown his wicket away. Clips the length delivery towards mid-wicket and sets off for a single. There was never a single there to be honest. Karun Nair had plenty of time in his hands. Keeps his calm and with three stumps to aim at, he fires a direct-hit at the keeper's end. Wasn't Sudharsan's mistake at all. Gill exchanges a few words and starts walking back to the pavilion.
Mukesh Kumar to Shubman Gill, FOUR, between extra cover and long-off
This is the second time DC have scored 200-plus without a single individual 50-plus score in the IPL, after 207/8 vs RR in Mumbai (WS) in 2022.
Prasidh to Ashutosh Sharma, SIX, back-to-back sixes for Ashutosh Sharma. Opens the bat face and guides the short ball over Buttler for half-a-dozen more
Prasidh to Vipraj Nigam, out Caught by Buttler!! Two in two for Prasidh. A shortish delivery on middle and leg, Vipraj Nigam backs away and guides this straight to Buttler. The keeper grabs it with a dive to his right and that's an excellent take.
Siraj to Axar, 1 run, dropped by Rashid Khan! Axar had chipped this towards cover and Rashid fails to latch on to the catch. Got his hands to it, but puts it down eventually. He's usually a good fielder, but not his day probably
Arshad Khan to Ashutosh Sharma, SIX, short and punished! Picks the length early and pulls the short ball over deep mid-wicket for a flat six
Ishant bowls a tight first over- Axar slams a sixer off Rashid- Ishant gives away 9 in his second over- Rashid drops a skier off his own bowling as Stubbs gets a life- A review taken against Axar is lost. GT have lost both their reviews- Stubbs holes out at short third man looking to reverse scoop a fuller ball from Siraj
Siraj to Stubbs, out Caught by Prasidh!! Siraj breaks the partnership. This was pitched up by the pacer and Stubbs went for the reverse scoop. Doesn't middle it as it was slightly slower and Prasidh at short third man takes the easiest of catches. Stubbs walks back after playing a handy knock just like most of the DC batters.
Rashid Khan to Axar, SIX, 50-run stand up! A length delivery on middle and leg, Axar swipes it over deep square leg for half-a-dozen
Rashid Khan to Stubbs, SIX, Stubbs on song! A tossed up delivery by Rashid, right into the slot and Stubbs has smoked it over long-o
Ishant to Stubbs, FOUR, and four more. Superb timing.
Rashid Khan to Axar, SIX, to long-off,
Over summary (6-10)-> A productive powerplay for Delhi Capitals, they score 73 runs in 6 overs-> Arshad Khan concedes 14 runs in the final over of the powerplay-> A useful partnership building between Axar and Karun-> Prasidh strikes once again, Karun Nair cuts a shortish delivery towards third man-> 100 up for Delhi Capitals in 9 overs-> Rashid wastes a review against Axar, a sharp lbw decision by the on-field umpire
Prasidh to Karun Nair, out Caught by Arshad Khan!! Another DC batter gets off to a start and falls. Was a back of a length delivery, outside off, Karun Nair seemed to be a little cramped on the shot and guided it. The ball went flat, Arshad moved to his left at deep third and pouched it. Nair has to go. Another in-form batter has to go back. Second strike for Krishna. He was given an extra over now and he has not disappointed. Not the best ball that Prasidh has bowled today but he will be pleased.
Prasidh to Karun Nair, FOUR, backs away and

That wasn't placed well and Abishek Porel has to go. Abishek Porel played a cameo but has to go now. Not the best of deliveries from Arshad Khan but he will be happy with the bargain. Failed to land that full toss outside off
Arshad Khan to Abishek Porel, FOUR, Krishna dives, slides and the ball bobbles out of his grasp for a four. That was fuller length, well outside off, the batter square drove it and the man from deep point moved to his left but failed to stop it with a clumsy effort not helping his cause
Siraj to Abishek Porel, no run, shapes in from a length, 135.2 kph, at the sticks, Abishek Porel gets the bat down and defends it back to the bowler
