Bumrah to Mohit Sharma, out Mohit Sharma Run Out!! You wouldn't believe it! THREE RUN-OUTS to close the game for the Mumbai Indians! This last one the worst of the lot as far as DC are concerned, completely needless and it doesn't even give Mitch Starc a chance in the last over, it's all done and dusted. Mohit Sharma run out (Santner) 0(1)
Within IPL competition the success levels of Mumbai Indians vastly exceed those of Delhi Capitals while they represent among the biggest world cities in both countries. The Mumbai Indians have defeated opponents to win five trophies which surpasses the total victories of five for their competitors throughout this competition. The Delhi Capitals begin this IPL season by leading the points table after winning all their four games in a streak that marks this year as different. The current performance of Mumbai Indians shows a disappointing record of four losses despite their strong roster.
Delhi have dominated this season after KL Rahul reemerged with his amazing batting style and Ashutosh Sharma produced exceptional performances alongside other strong Delhi players. The Capitals’ bowling lineup possesses remarkable qualities as described by the best spin pair Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel and newcomer Vipraj Nigam along with the pace attack featuring Mitchell Starc supported by Mukesh Kumar and Mohit Sharma.
Mumbai Indians display a squad that competes with the prestigious caliber of other teams or potentially surpasses them through the impressive number of Indian players. It remains puzzling how they keep missing out on victory since their dominance only appeared during a decisive Wankhede win against KKR. The cricket fraternity envies their lineup that consists of Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, Trent Boult, Mitchell Santner and Hardik Pandya as captain with Jasprit Bumrah rejoining the team.
Bumrah to Ashutosh Sharma, FOUR, streaky this time but they all count! Bumrah nails the yorker on off-stump this time, Ashutosh Sharma looks to dig it out and gets a thick outside edge that goes past the keeper, nothing MI can do about that, Bumrah has a wry smile on his face
Santner to Vipraj Nigam, wide, out Stumped!! Outfoxed and outdone! Mitch Santner has the last laugh! He drags it short and very wide outside off, Vipraj Nigam was running down the track and had no chance of reaching this, ended up stranded a mile down the wicket and Rickelton did the rest. Smart bowling from Santner, he had a plan and it worked. Nigam is gone after a little but crucial cameo.
Karn Sharma to Rahul, out Caught&Bowled!! Trouble! Trouble! TROUBLE FOR DC! Now KL Rahul is on his way back. Karn Sharma is having a massive impact. Tossed up full on middle, Rahul cleared his front-leg looking to slog sweep this, mistimed it completely, got a top-edge that went straight up and the bowler wanted this himself. Simple catch in the end and it sends Rahul back to the dugout, kicking the turf along the way.
Santner to Ashutosh Sharma, 1 run, nearly snuck that one through! Flat and full outside off, Ashutosh Sharma went for a drive on the up and it slid through, got a thick inside edge that just went past the stumps
Bumrah to Axar, out Caught by Suryakumar Yadav!! Leading edge and swallowed up easily! Low full-toss heading down leg, Axar looked to help it on its way but closed the face of the bat too early, it took the leading edge and popped straight up, SKY took the easiest catch he'll probably ever take at extra cover. Suddenly one wicket has brought two for MI. Could this be the little opening they needed to get back into this contest? Axar c Suryakumar Yadav b Bumrah 9(6) [4s-2]
Santner to Karun Nair, out Bowled!! Oh he's knocked him over! An absolute dream delivery and Karun Nair's fairytale comeback has been cut short. Good length delivery on off-stump, angled in and ripped away sharply after hitting the deck, Karun Nair pressed back to defend and was completely squared up. It zipped past the outside edge and hit the top of off-stump. Not much Karun Nair could've done about that at all. Ends an absolutely remarkable knock, what a statement he's made in just one innings! He raises his bat as he walks off to a rapturous applause. Karun Nair b Santner 89(40) [4s-12 6s-5]
Karn Sharma to Abishek Porel, out Caught by Naman Dhir!! Goes for it again and he's perished! Brave from Karn Sharma to toss another one up. Was on off-stump and Abishek Porel's eyes lit up, he leant in and went for a slog-sweep, it came right out of the toe end and floated out towards deep square leg, two men were running towards it from either side and it's a good running catch from Naman Dhir in the end who was moving to his right. Had a lot of things to account for there, the trajectory of the ball, the boundary and the other man running towards him. Did very well in the end.
Hardik Pandya to Karun Nair, SIX, he's slashed another one away! Full and wide outside off, Karun Nair just threw his hands at this, didn't look like he quite got hold of it but managed to slash it away flat and over the deep backward point ropes
Hardik Pandya to Karun Nair, 1 run, short of length on off-stump, Karun Nair looks to heave it away across the line, gets a little-bottom edge and it bounces before the keeper
Karn Sharma to Karun Nair, SIX, to fine leg
Hardik Pandya to Karun Nair, no run, good length delivery just outside off, Karun Nair walks right across his stumps looking to scoop this and is struck on the thigh pad
Bumrah to Karun Nair, SIX, wow! Even Hardik Pandya applauds that shot. A length delivery at the stumps, Karun Nair gets into position quickly and whips it over deep backward square leg for half-a-dozen. Not often do you see Bumrah getting treated in such a manner
Bumrah to Karun Nair, FOUR, Karun Nair continues to show his class. Makes room and thumps the full length delivery over wide mid-off for four more. No need to run for those
Boult to Karun Nair, FOUR, three lovely shots by Karun Nair against Boult. The Kiwi pacer goes full outside off and Karun Nair plays a glorious drive through cover.. Pierces the infield and adds four more to the tally
Chahar to Fraser-McGurk, out Caught by Will Jacks!! Chahar strikes on his first ball. On a length around off, Fraser-McGurk stands tall and chips it straight to the fielder at cover. A comforable catch taken by Jacks and Fraser-McGurk departs without troubling the scorers. His lean patch this season continues.
Mukesh Kumar to Naman Dhir, 4 runs, excellent running between the wickets! A juicy full toss on leg and Naman Dhir swipes it through backward square leg. The fielder in the deep stops it with a dive, however, an overthrow at the keeper's end results in the fourth run. All that effort near the boundary in vain
Mohit Sharma to Tilak Varma, 3 runs, slower delivery outside off, Tilak Varma slices it towards short third man where a couple of fielders collide while attempting a catch. Ashutosh and Mukesh are the two fielders who collided. The physio is having a check on them, and Ashutosh Sharma is going off the field along with the physio. Hopefully nothing serious as the Capitals would need him later with the bat
Mitchell Starc to Naman Dhir, FOUR, superb shot! Was a really full ball by Mitchell Starc, almost a yorker, but Naman Dhir plays a powerful whip all along the turf. The fielder in the deep sprints across and puts in a dive, but the timing was good enough to beat him
Mohit Sharma to Tilak Varma, 1 run, fifty for Tilak Varma! A full toss outside off and Tilak Varma drills it to long-off for a single. Raises his bat to acknowledge the crowd and his team-mates in the dugout.. Can he take MI past the 200-run mark? We shall find out soon..
Kuldeep Yadav to Tilak Varma, FOUR, Varma moves into the 40s! This was on the shorter side and Tilak Varma dragged it towards deep mid-wicket. Starc and Ashutosh converge across in the deep, but none of them can stop it. Starc got his hand with a slide and tried to flick it away, but wasn't in control
Vipraj Nigam to Hardik Pandya, out Caught by Stubbs!! One brings two. A tossed up delivery by the spinner and Hardik Pandya takes on the aerial route. Miscues this towards long-off as he loses his shape and the MI captain has been dismissed early today. No Pandya special as he makes his way back to the pavilion. The DC wrist-spinners are having a good time bowling in tandem.
Kuldeep Yadav to Suryakumar Yadav, out Caught by Mitchell Starc!! Kuldeep Yadav gets the big fish, breaks the partnership! A tossed up delivery around off, Suryakumar Yadav shimmies down the wicket and chips it towards long-off. Starc placed in the deep takes a comfortable catch. Got off to a good start, but fails to convert it into a formidable score does SKY.
Vipraj Nigam to Suryakumar Yadav, FOUR, flat outside off, back of a length, and Surya still manages to drag the sweep shot to the boundary!
Mohit Sharma to Suryakumar Yadav, FOUR, flicked in the air and finds the gap! Full around off, pace-on from Mohit and Surya helps it over midwicket with the pick-up shot
Kuldeep Yadav to Suryakumar Yadav, no run, turn and bounce with this googly! Plenty of revs on it from over the wicket, pitches outside leg and takes a thick outside edge as Surya looks to defend off the back foot. It rolls to backward point
Axar to Tilak Varma, SIX, Tilak goes reverse and smashes it over backward point! Flat length ball on middle, he gets into position premeditatedly and hits it very well to clear the ropes
Kuldeep Yadav to Rickelton, out Bowled!! Told you it was going to be a challenge for Rickelton! This man is absolutely deadly against left-handers, especially if they're not picking him. His flight, his control, and his confidence has been incredible since the Champions Trophy. Tossed up around off,
Vipraj Nigam to Suryakumar Yadav, FOUR, 91kph, good length ball around off,
Mukesh Kumar to Suryakumar Yadav, SIX, to fine leg
Vipraj Nigam to Rohit, out Lbw!!
Mukesh Kumar to Rickelton, FOUR, this is back of a length and Rickelton has still driven it on the front foot through extra cover! Angling away outside off, he presses forward, hits it on the up and times it beautifully
Mitchell Starc to Rohit, FOUR, too full and hammered! It's angling away outside off, Rohit goes after it and carves it over extra cover
Mukesh Kumar to Rickelton, SIX, pulled into the crowd! Short of length on off,
