Rahul Dravid appeared in 164 Test matches between 1996 and 2012, making 13,288 runs in 286 innings at a mean of 52.31. He is fourth on the top list of run-scorers in Test cricket. Jacques Kallis, who is third, played 166 Tests from 1995 to 2013, compiling 13,289 runs in 280 innings at an average of 55.37.
Joe Root is presently fifth in the list. He has played 154 Test matches since 2012 and has made 13,087 runs in 281 innings at 50.92 average. Ricky Ponting (13,378) and Sachin Tendulkar (15,921) are the players in front of Root, Dravid, and Kallis in the list of the highest run-scorers in Test cricket.
India’s first Test against England was played in Leeds, in which the Indian side lost by five wickets. Even with five centuries in the game, the away team failed to win.
India elected to bat first and scored a total of 471 runs. England replied with 465 runs in their first innings. India had the advantage of a six-run lead after the first innings and then added 364 runs in their second innings, giving a target of 301 runs to the host. England overcame the target in 82 overs to win the match.
