Addressing the press in the post match press conference, Ben stokes admitted that England had to come out with a great attitude each and every day after the England bowlers came under pressure of the Indian batsmen in the first two days of the opening Test match. England skipper Ben Stokes feels that bowling out the Indians in both innings with very few runs proved to be decisive in the 1 st Test match. England managed to chase the humongous target of 371 runs in slightly above one day against Shubman Gill-led team to win the first game and lead the 5-match contest 1-0.
Ben stokes’ Statement
“It was all about our attitude and commitment, day in and day out. That’s what we focused on. Both teams played quality cricket, a great way to start the series,” Stokes said at the post-match press conference.
“It was a very good wicket for batting. The way we knocked over the Indian tail was a big reason why we were able to chase down this score,” he added.

“We’re a very simple-minded pair, me and Baz, when it comes to cricket,” he said of his partnership with the team’s coach, Brendon McCullum. “We just try to keep everything as simple and as calm as we possibly can.
“When you’re chasing down totals like that, keeping the relaxed vibe as much as we can is so important to the mindset of someone going out there in the middle with the pressures of that situation. Everyone goes out there with a pretty clear mind about what we’re trying to do. [Our task] was pretty simple: if we bat the overs that are left in the game, we will win,” Stokes concluded.
