After Ravi Shastri was not impressed by India’s fielding even Nasser Hussain, who was present in the discussion believed that India did not allow the hosts to become more involved in the match during the final session of Day 3 with their strong batting. India’s fielders gave life to Ben Duckett, Ollie Pope and Harry Brook throughout Day 2 and Day 3 events and enabled England to score 465 and surrender only a lead of six runs to India.
Nasser Hussain’s Statement
“I think India will be a little disappointed. They had a collapse of 7-41 in their innings and the England score should then have been a lot less.”
“That last little session tonight was vital for them in that they didn’t let England back into the game even more,” said Hussain.
What Happened On The Day 3 Of ENG Vs IND 1st Test
KL Rahul contributed the calm 47 not out following the five wickets of Jasprit Bumrah to move India to a majority in the alliance game with England at Stumps in Leeds on Sunday. Bumrah also delivered 5/83 to have the Three Lions all out for 465 with the Indians having a lead of six runs. Ollie Pope has scored 106, Harry Brook scored 99. In the case of India, Prasidh Krishna and Mohammed Siraj took three and two wickets respectively. India became cheap in the second innings with the dismissal of Yashasvi Jaiswal (4) but a good 66-run partnership between Rahul and Sai Sudharsan rescued the team out of the mess. India had gained the lead of 96 to 90 for 2 at the end of the day.
