Former Indian batsman Ambati Rayudu states with great certainty that Chennai Super Kings (CSK) face an almost insurmountable challenge to return to the IPL 2025 competition. The sixth loss in eight matches this season happened when CSK faced Mumbai Indians at Wankhede Stadium on Sunday. CSK occupy the last position on the league points chart. Chennai Super Kings faced another unsuccessful beginning to their game. The debutante Ayush Mhatre brought positive news after reaching 32 runs in just 15 balls with two sixes along with four fours during his innings. Both Ravindra Jadeja and Shivam Dube reached the fifty run mark to help their team reach 176/5 in their twenty overs.
The Indian batting hero Rohit Sharma scored 76 runs without losing his wicket as he hit 6 big hits and 4 boundaries during his score. Suryakumar Yadav along with Rohit Sharma batted without boundaries to knock down 68 runs in 30 balls. Mumbai Indians achieved the run chase in the ninth wicket down with only 15.4 overs to finish the match.
Rayudu declared on JioCinema that he saw Chennai Super Kings as unable to restore their form during IPL 2025. Dhoni himself stated after the match that the team had started preparing for the next IPL. Dhoni expressed his desire to create an optimistic team through developing young talent which he would nurture without showing excessive caution as his new priority. The team may provide total playing time to prospects such as Ayush Mhatre beginning with IPL 2025.
Rayudu expressed that the team was without drive and commitment during their loss. The middle section of bowling produced 35 runs in seven overs for the team. In modern T20 cricket, no one plays so slowly anymore. The cricket game now requires teams to maintain consistent scoring throughout the middle stages of play. CSK didn’t show the intent. The loss of a match is acceptable but you need to actively compete for success. Time passing in the middle overs will not produce successful results in modern T20 cricket.
