Gautam Gambhir will join the India A team on their England journey before the five-match Test series against England begins June 20. Indian cricket history witnesses its first instance in which the senior team coach will join the A squad during an international tour. The presence of Gambhir with the India A team will help him identify prospective players better so India’s leadership can prepare adequately for Rohit Sharma’s first Test appearance after Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
Gambhir To Travel with India A To Scout Talent Ahead Of England Test Series
As reported by The Times of India India head coach Gautam Gambhir intends to join the India A squad in England for assessing potential players before the Test series start. Since his return from Australia Gambhir held multiple meetings with BCCI officials about the matter. According to news from The Times of India the coach wants to observe the reserve players by travelling with India ‘A’ to England. Gautam Gambhir plans this England visit to support the India A squad because he shares his philosophy of finding wildcard talent that India used to win this year’s Champions Trophy.

BCCI Officials Prioritize Reviving India A Tours To Strengthen Player Development
Three BCCI officials including Indian head coach Gautam Gambhir and chief selector Ajit Agarkar and NCA head VVS Laxman have named the restoration of India A tours as their main priority. Sources from BCCI emphasise that reviving India ‘A’ tours presents one of the main keys to progress. Each Indian ‘A’ cricket series has been limited to only a few tours since Rahul Dravid departed from NCA without generating any separate stand-alone tournaments. Gambhir supports the need for additional ‘A’ tours according to his perspective. The group wants to boost the number of India A tours because these provide steady exposure to developing players.
