Good News For India! Rishabh Pant Off To The Nets For Batting Practice At Lord’s | WATCH VIDEO

Rishabh Pant was seen wearing the pads and walking off to the nets for a quick practice session.

India’s deputy captain, Rishabh Pant, who went off the ground mid-play, did not return to the field today. His replacement, Dhruv Jurel, had been wearing gloves since morning. After England wrapped up the innings at 387 runs, it was India’s turn to shape their blade and come out to bat. Rishabh Pant was seen wearing the pads and walking off to the nets for a quick practice session. If everything remains under control and he is declared fit by the medical staff, we might witness Pant’s appearance in the Lord’s during the 3rd match between India and England.

Rishabh Pant Injury

Rishabh Pant departed from the field in the second session of day 1 after he received a serious blow to his index finger. Just within a couple of minutes, Pant was attended to by the medical staff and received medical attention for his injury. The incident was during the 34th over of England’s innings when pacer Jasprit Bumrah bowled a ball down the leg side. Pant dived to his left in a bid to block the delivery and succeeded in getting his glove onto the ball, but couldn’t stop it from passing past him. In the process, he seemed to hurt his finger and was grimacing in agony. Even after first-hand treatment on the field by the Indian support staff, Pant couldn’t go on. He stayed on the field for the remainder of the over but finally departed after getting repeatedly uncomfortable.

Joe Root smashed a century. Brydon Carse and Jamie Smith complemented the innings with their respective half-centuries. Ollie Pope and England skipper Ben Stokes both scored 44 runs each. India has already lost the first wicket when star pacer Jofra Archer sent young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal just on the third ball of his opening over.
