Rabada to Santner, SIX, oh lovely! Brilliant lofted drive from the crease. Mid-off up so Santner happily lofting through the line and timing it sweet for a maximum

Gujarat Titans played at home against Punjab but failed to achieve victory as they fell short in chasing down their opponents’ 244-run total. Sai Sudharsan scored 74 runs from 41 deliveries and Jos Buttler made 54 runs from 33 balls yet Gujarat Titans ended 11 runs short of the target. The PBKS batting order produced an outstanding total due to important contributions from Shreyas Iyer who scored 97 off 42 deliveries and Priyansh Arya who hit 47 runs from 23 balls and Shashank Singh with his 44 runs from 16 balls. Rashid Khan together with Kagiso Rabada and Sai Kishore took wickets but were unable to control the high scoring during the match. The current champions will use their 2022 championship status to motivate a more resilient performance when they face MI in this match.
Mumbai Indians faced difficulties during their match against Chennai Super Kings in the beginning. MI came out to bat first at Chepauk but their hitters only scored 155 runs before being dismissed nine times as Khaleel Ahmed and Noor Ahmad maintained discipline from the bowling side. Chennai Super Kings defeated their opponents by achieving the target with five balls remaining as Rachin Ravindra scored 65 runs from 45 balls and Ruturaj Gaikwad accumulated 53 runs from 26 balls. Starting from the next game MI will gain critical support from their captain Hardik Pandya who sat out the first match because of suspension. Pandya will return to face his previous team at the IPL who granted him victory in the title match of 2022. The Gujarat Titans faced the Mumbai Indians once in the 2024 season and won by a slim margin of six runs.

Mumbai Indians:
Rohit Sharma, Ryan Rickelton (wk), Suryakumar Yadav, Will Jacks, Tilak Varma, Naman Dhir, Hardik Pandya (c), Mitchell Santner, Deepak Chahar, Trent Boult, Satyanarayana Raju.
Rabada to Hardik Pandya, out Caught by Siraj!! In the airrr, Siraj almost lost it in the lights/background and made a mess of it. Nothing shot from Hardik Pandya. Just catching practice. Short of a length delivery outside off stump, Hardik tries to play the stylish late dab that he plays well. But the problem here was KG took pace off and slammed it into the wicket.
Prasidh to Suryakumar Yadav, out Caught by Shubman Gill!! Prasidh you beauty. He's breaking this chase apart for MI. Delivers smart slower delivery outside off stump, SKY tries to loft, has no choice, only manages to toe-end it high. Long-off runs in and completes a fine catch. That almost could be the fate tonight for MI.
Prasidh has put a tight lid on this game now. Just two off his first over, now four off his second over. 85 to get off 36 balls. GT have two overs of Rashid left. Matchups wise SKY has no problem against him but Hardik has managed to boss his former GT captain. MI have no choice but to force it now
Sai Kishore to Robin Minz, out Caught by Ishant!! Outside edge and straight to Ishant at short third man. Short and angling away, Minz looks to loft over the off-side, thick edge is easily pouched by Ishant. Sai gets a deserving wicket
Sai Kishore to Suryakumar Yadav, SIX, all he wants to do to Sai is just play the sweep shot.
Prasidh to Tilak Varma, out Caught by Rahul Tewatia at deep mid-wicket!! In the airrr, long-on runs to the left and takes a lovely catch. Pace off from Prasidh, Tilak looks to loft, bat turns in his hands as he doesn't pick the change of pace. Tewatia had his eyes glued to that one and took a nice catch and controlled it well with the slide. Tilak lost momentum towards the end and now gets out.
Sai Kishore to Suryakumar Yadav, SIX, to deep extra cover
Rashid Khan to Tilak Varma, 1 run, to deep square leg
Sai Kishore to Tilak Varma, 3 runs, short and flat, Tilak flicks to square leg. They race back for two, Rashid tried to pick it up with one hand on the go and release but fumbled and conceded an extra run
Rabada to Tilak Varma, 2 runs, to deep mid-wicket
Rashid Khan to Suryakumar Yadav, 1 run, tad short as Suryakumar Yadav clips it to wide mid-on for one
Siraj to Suryakumar Yadav, SIX, lovely shot. On a length around off, Suryakumar Yadav stands tall and flicks it over deep backward square leg in vintage SKY style
Ishant to Rickelton, no run, on a length outside off, Rickelton goes for a drive, gets a bottom edge towards the keeper as the ball keeps low
Rabada to Tilak Varma, SIX, even better. What a class player Tilak Varma is. Goes down on his knee and scoops this length ball over fine leg as the ball goes the distance
Siraj to Rohit, out Bowled!! Knocked him over! He has the last laugh. On a length around off, the ball skids along the deck, breaches Rohit's defence and the hits the top of the bails. Smashes into the bails and Rohit is gone early. That ball nipped back in slightly, a perfect delivery by Siraj. Conceded a couple of boundaries, but he'll be happy having dismissed MI's former captain
Satyanarayana Raju to Rabada, out Sai Kishore Run Out!! A wicket to end the innings. A slower delivery outside off, Rabada leaves it alone thinking of it as a wide. But it was well inside the tramline. They try to steal a bye, but Rickelton has a direct-hit at his end. Kishore tries to get in with a dive, but he is well short.
Satyanarayana Raju to Rashid Khan, out Caught by Hardik Pandya!! Satyanarayana Raju has the last laugh! Pitched up by the bowler, Rashid Khan looks to swipe this across the line, but miscues it towards long-on. Skipper Pandya completes the formalities and that's the end of Rashid Khan. Rashid Khan c Hardik Pandya b Satyanarayana Raju 6(4) [6s-1]
Satyanarayana Raju to Rashid Khan, SIX, Rashid Khan opens his account in style. A length delivery by Satyanarayana Raju, Rashid Khan gets underneath and tonks it over long-on for half-a-dozen
Satyanarayana Raju to Rabada, byes, 1 run, slower delivery by Satyanarayana Raju, Rabada swings and misses. They steal a bye
Chahar to Rutherford, out Caught by Santner!! Mumbai Indians pulling things back to an extent. On a length around off, Rutherford takes on the pacer and lofts it over long-off. Santner settles underneath and completes a safe catch. With wickets tumbling towards the end, Mumbai Indians have a chance to restrict GT below the 200-run mark.
Boult to Sai Sudharsan, out Lbw!! Boult ends his spell with a wicket. A toe-crushing yorker again. Swings in late and the batsman gets hit on the back leg. Might have crashed into the stumps and up goes the umpire's finger. Sai Sudharsan walks back after playing a pivotal knock.
Satyanarayana Raju to Sai Sudharsan, 1 run, pitched up by the bowler outside off, Sai Sudharsan squeezes it towards cover for a single. A direct-hit at the keeper's end, but the batsman was in
Satyanarayana Raju to Rutherford, SIX, pitched up by the bowler on off,
Hardik Pandya to Shahrukh Khan, out Caught by Tilak Varma!! Another one bites the dust. Shahrukh Khan departs without much of a contribution. Just a six for him. Was a short and wide ball outside off, Shahrukh Khan reaches out for it and slaps it towards deep cover. Tilak stationed near the boundary takes a safe catch and the Titans have lost their third wicket.
Mujeeb to Buttler, out Caught by Rickelton!! Edged and taken! Mujeeb breaks the partnership. Mujeeb goes full and wide outside off,
Mujeeb to Buttler, FOUR, between mid-wicket and long-on
Santner to Sai Sudharsan, 2 runs, 94.2 clicks, good length onto the pads, clipped softly towards mid-wicket. Sudharsan hurries back to complete the second run
Hardik Pandya to Buttler, no run, a slower bouncer that goes just past the right shoulder as Buttler tried to pull it away. Went close to the bat and the keeper insisted on a review, but nothing on UltraEdge. Review lost for MI
Hardik Pandya to Shubman Gill, out Caught by Naman Dhir at deep square leg!! Oh dear! Gill couldn't have picked out the fielder any better even if he tried giving him a fielding drill
Santner to Sai Sudharsan, no run, flat delivery on fourth stump, doesn't spin. Punched to covers
Hardik Pandya to Sai Sudharsan, wide, starts with a slower bouncer, over the head of the batter
Chahar to Shubman Gill, SIX, smoked away!
Mujeeb to Sai Sudharsan, FOUR, starts with a googly which is on a length and wide outside off. Punched away through covers for a boundary by Sudharsan
Chahar to Sai Sudharsan, 1 run, 118.8 clicks, good length and wide outside off from round the wicket. Cut towards the fielder at deep point who had moved back again
Boult to Sai Sudharsan, FOUR, to long-on
Chahar to Shubman Gill, FOUR, 135.6 clicks, short pitched and angling onto middle and leg.
Boult to Sai Sudharsan, 1 run, 136.6 clicks, goes fuller and generates outswing from off stump. Run down past backward point for a single
Mumbai Indians have won the toss and have opted to field.
Hardik Pandya is back where the booing first began. Just over a year ago, he faced a hostile reception from the very stands that had cheered him wholeheartedly the previous two seasons of the IPL. His move from Gujarat Titans to Mumbai Indians did not exactly sit well with the fans, and he went on to endure a crescendo of taunts across most of the IPL venues last season. The denouement was far from ideal, as neither he nor his team actually managed to recover, eventually finishing at the bottom.
