As Ayush Mhatre is enjoying a year filled with achievements. A 17-year-old from Mumbai he quickly rose to prominence during the ongoing 18th edition of IPL with Chennai Super Kings and is now set to captain India’s U-19 team in England later this month. Mumbai’s coach Omkar Salvi, told The Times of India that he considers the youngster to be calm and disciplined and that he could step up to be a part of the national team in the future.

“Ayush Mhatre is a lovely kid who has got a very calm head on his shoulders. Being around him in the dressing room gave me the feeling that he is someone who can definitely be a leader,” Salvi told TOI.
“He’s very confident of himself and also a self-assured team man and that is going to keep this India Under-19 team in good stead,” Salvi added.

His highest performance so far is an unbeaten 94, proving he can play well when needed. He hasn’t reached a century yet, but he is consistent at the crease, as shown by his half-century.
