“I didn’t make the captain dance. I just told him to do it but he didn’t do it as I told him,” he replied.

PM Modi first congratulated the team on their World Cup win and then chatted with the players about their tournament experiences. He playfully addressed Kuldeep for asking captain Rohit Sharma to perform WWE legend Ric Flair’s famous strut before lifting the trophy. Rohit’s imitation of the wrestler became a viral moment online. Kuldeep joked that Rohit didn’t follow his instructions perfectly.

“I love to play for India, it’s an honour to represent the country at the highest level. I’ve been given the role of an attacking spinner in the team. I’ve been entrusted with the task of picking wickets in the middle overs by the captain and the coach. I’ve played three World cup tournaments so far and elated to lift it for the first time,” he added.

Kuldeep, who missed the group stages in the USA, played a crucial role in India’s success during the Super 8 stage in the West Indies. The 29-year-old was the fourth-highest wicket-taker for India, with ten wickets from five innings at an average of 13.90 and an economy rate of 6.95. His best performance was against Bangladesh, where he took 3/19 in four overs.
