‘I Actually Didn’t…’ Marcus Stoinis Reveals Covid Battle Before Blistering Knock Against DC

Marcus Stoinis explained that after being unwell from Covid he rested in Australia and then went to India.

The success of PBKS reaching 206 runs in their innings on Saturday May 24 during their clash against DC was largely due to Marcus Stoinis’ innings of 44 runs from 16 balls. During the break the Australian all rounder shared that he tested positive for Covid-19 while one a break during IPL 2025 in Australia. And that he preferred to play rather than practise all the time. The player explained that after being unwell from Covid he rested in Australia and then went to India.

Marcus Stoinis’ Statement About Getting Covid And The Match

“I actually didn’t have any nets before this game. Unfortunately, I had Covid-19 which we don’t speak about much anymore. It was a nice welcome home. I rested at my home and then came back here,” said Stoinis.

“It’s always difficult when you go out in the middle at the end and go one mode. It was really good for me there. I was surprised that they didn’t bowl much slower balls as I was setting up quite early. That’s probably something we could do. It’s a really good surface,” said Stoinis.

“The wicket was holding a bit but I was swinging it a bit too early. The wind is coming from the longer part of the boundary. I think it’s worth using that breeze. If we need to change tactics, we will adapt as quickly as we can. I am fit to bowl if required,” said Stoinis.

What Happened In DC Vs PBKS Match

DC beat PBKS by 6 wickets and credit goes to Sameer Rizvi for staying unbeaten with a score of 58 runs from 25 balls. Finishing 207, DC got back to the pavilion with three balls still left over. Karun Nair contributed 44 runs off just 27 deliveries. Initially, Shreyas Iyer and Marcus Stoinis batted strongly as PBKS managed 206-8 after being invited to take the first knock. Iyer hit 53 runs off only 34 deliveries and Stoinis was brilliant with 44 not out off just 16 deliveries. Among the Delhi Capitals bowlers, Mustafizur Rahman caught the eye with 3 for 33.
