Bangladesh’s Towhid Hridoy has been came to bat when the team was struggling at 26/3. He along with Jaker Ali built a stabilizing partnership due to which Bangladesh could end up at a score of 228. He managed to score his maiden ODI century against India on Thursday in the Dubai International Stadium. He played a Brilliant innings under pressure and showed great fight when the team was tottering and picked up pace after his fifty to give India a challenging total.
Towhid Hridoy’s Maiden 100
Hridoy smashed his maiden ODI century int he 48th over when India’s star pacer Mohammad Shami was in the attack. He completed his century in 114 balls. Towhid Hridoy’s 100* made him ninth player to score hundred in debut innings in Champions Trophy. He also became the Second player for Bangladesh after Tamim Iqbal (128 vs Eng The Oval 2017) and Second non-opener after Mohd Kaif (111* vs Zim Colombo RPS 2002) to reach to a milestone.
Jaker Ali’s Contribution
Bangladesh was struggling at 39/5 when both Jaker Ali and Towhid Hridoy took over. Jaker Ali also played an impressive and stabilizing innings in 114 balls which even included 4 boundaries. He played with a strike rate of 59.65. Although his strike rate was not very convincing but he took a paralyzed Bangladeshi innings to a reasonable score along with Hridoy.
India’s Bowling was Impressive
Mohammad Shami bagged himself a 5-wicket haul. He dismissed Bangladesh opener Soumya Sarkar, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, the danger man Jaker Ali, Tanzim Hasan Sakib and Taskin Ahmed. During his 10 over spell he sparred just 53 runs while claiming 5 wickets. Meanwhile pacer Harshit Rana picked 3 wickets for himself and Axar Patel who just fell short of a hattrick when Rohit Sharma dropped Jaker Ali which later cost India.
