Rishabh Pant put on a spectacular show in the Lord’s Test against England. He came in to bat at a crucial moment when Team India had lost three wickets for just 107 runs. In that pressure situation, Pant steadied the innings alongside KL Rahul, stitching together a vital 141-run partnership. What made this knock even more special was that Pant had sustained an injury while fielding in the first innings. After getting hurt on a delivery from Bumrah, all eyes were on whether he would be able to bat at all. Despite being visibly in pain throughout his innings, Pant didn’t give up and went on to play a brilliant knock — one that helped him break a record held by the legendary Viv Richards.

First Visiting Wicketkeeper-Batter to Score 400+ Runs in a Series in England
Pant has also become the first visiting wicketkeeper-batter to score more than 400 runs in a single Test series in England. No other wicketkeeper has achieved this feat before. In the current series, Pant’s bat has done all the talking. Across three matches and five innings, he has scored 416 runs at a remarkable average of 85.5. So far in the series, he has smashed 44 fours and 15 sixes.
Misses Out on Third Century of the Series
Having already scored two centuries in the series, Pant had a great chance to score his third, but he fell short. Trying to sneak a single off Bashir’s bowling, he was run out due to a brilliant piece of fielding by Ben Stokes. Pant’s innings ended at 74 runs, just before the lunch break — a big blow to Team India at the time.
