The last time India dismissed 5 players from the opponents was back in 2014 when India played the 2nd Test match of the series against New Zealand at Wellington. Batting first, New Zealand wrapped up the innings on just 192 runs. India replied with a massive 438 runs, with Ajinkya Rahane’s stunning and Shikhar Dhawan’s 98. Coming out to bat in the second innings, the hosts posted a mammoth of 680 and finally declared the innings after losing 8 wickets. New Zealand had lost 5 early wickets on just 94 runs, when Brandon McCullum, the skipper for the side, scored a triple-century and turned the losing match into a draw. India’s innings were completed at 166/3 with Virat Kohli smashing a century.

Both Brook and Smith led a 300-run partnership, and this signaled that the English are not here to give an easy victory to the visitors on their home turf. The innings were finally disrupted when Akash Deep bowled Harry Brook on 158 runs. Akash Deep came as a replacement for Jasprit Bumrah who is being benched for the game. Akash Deep has claimed 4 wickets while Mohammad Siraj claimed a 5-wicket haul. Prasidh Krishna turned out to be pretty expensive in his spells and also went wicketless.
