The buzz around Team India’s test captaincy and squad for the upcoming tour of England has come to an end as the selectors have named the squad and named Shubman Gill the captain of the Indian team in Test-format. By this, Gill becomes the 37th captain of Team India in Test format. Gill had a stiff competition with the likes of Jasprit Bumrah, Rishabh Pant and KL Rahul but selectors showed faith in him and made him the skipper.
The upcoming tour of England will be Gill’s first assignment. The tour will be Gill’s litmus test that how he can handle pressure in tough situations and how can deliver his best with captaincy and batting.

No Shreyas Iyer And Mohammed Shami
There are names which are surprisingly missing from the side are Shreyas Iyer and Mohammed Shami. Iyer, who was a genuine contender of No.4 position has been sidelined whereas, India’s premier pacer Mohammed Shami also been sidelined.
Sai Sudharsan and Abhimanyu Easwaran Named In The Squad
News names like young Sai Sudharsan and Abhimanyu Easwaran named in the squad. Easwaran, who waited for a long time to get into the Indian-side, finally got a chance in the squad. Sudharsan, who had a stellar domestic outing with the bat has been awarded to tour England. Both players were selected for A-squad which will tour England.
When Will The Tour Get Started?
The five-match Test series between India and England will be played in England starting from June 20. The first Test will be held at Headingley Cricket Ground in Leeds from June 20 to 24. The second match is scheduled for July 2 to 6 at Edgbaston Cricket Ground in Birmingham. The third Test will take place from July 10 to 14 at Lord’s Cricket Ground in London.
Following that, Manchester will host the fourth Test at Old Trafford from July 23 to 27. The fifth and final match of this exciting series will be played at The Oval in London from July 31 to August 4.
