Daryl Mitchell's 63 was eventually the top score on the night as SHubman Gill and Co. kept their hopes alive for the playoffs.

GT vs CSK: Match 59 of the Indian Premier League witnessed hosts Gujarat Titans make a dent in Chennai Super Kings’ title defense as they took the revenge of last year’s final, beating the defending champions by 35 runs at the Narendra Modi Stadium on May 10.

Gill-Sudharshan Fire GT To 231/3

Batting first, the Gujarat crowd witnessed an exceptional display of batting skills as GT’s opening duo, Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharshan, displayed unstoppable form with aggressive intent.

While Shubman Gill made a spectacular 104 runs, his partner Sai Sudharshan also achieved his maiden century, resulting in a record-breaking 210-run partnership against CSK. This partnership stands as the highest in IPL history.

CSK bowlers struggled to contain the duo as both batters maintained a commendable strike rate throughout the innings, reflecting the team’s resilience despite their slim chances of qualifying for the playoffs this season.

The historic partnership enabled last year’s finalists to set a massive target of 231/3 for Ruturaj Gaikwad and his team to chase.

CSK Falter In Race for Playoffs

In reply, it was the worst start possible for the visitors as they were seen struggling at 2/2 within the first 2 overs. Openers Ajinkya Rahane and Rachin Ravindra saw themselves getting dismissed at a collective total of just 2 runs.

It was Daryl Mitchell and Moeen Ali who powered the team to 135/5 and gave Chennai some real hope on the night. However, quick wickets at the right intervals did the job for Gujarat Titans as the defending champions were limited to 196/8 on the night.

Daryl Mitchell’s 63 was eventually the top score on the night as SHubman Gill and Co. kept their hopes alive for the playoffs.
