IPL 2025: DC Bowling Coach Munaf Patel Fined For Breaching IPL Code of Conduct, Know How Much He Has To Pay

The DC bowling coach Munaf Patel has been penalised by BCCI for 25% of the match after DC accomplished their Super Over target of scoring 12 runs by scoring 13 runs in four balls without losing any wickets in yesterdays match against RR at the Arun Jaitely Stadium.

IPL gave a statement on Thursday in which they said that “Munaf Patel admitted to the Level 1 offence under Article 2.20 – which pertains to the conduct that is contrary to the spirit of the game – and accepted the Match Referee’s sanction,”

What Was The Incident

“Munaf Patel, Bowling Coach, Delhi Capitals has been fined 25 per cent of his match fees and has also accumulated One Demerit Point for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct during his team’s match against Rajasthan Royals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi on Wednesday,”

During batting, DC’s player encountered blockage from the fourth umpire who prevented him from notifying Patel on field despite receiving the message in the middle. The former Indian bowler stood near the boundary lines to put on his shoe laces while he disputed with the umpire.

About The Match

The match began with DC setting a target of 188/5 during which Abhishek Porel scored 49 runs from just 37 balls and KL Rahul accumulated 38 runs from his 32-ball innings. The death overs of the innings became a highlight because captain Axar Patel hammered 34 runs from 14 balls while Tristan Stubbs remained not out with 34 runs from 18 balls. And RR was able to chased down a tied by reaching 188/4 by the end of the 20 overs as Sanju Samson and Yashasvi Jaiswal’s partnership resulted in a score of  61 runs together in the opening powerplay. This tie resulted in the first ever super over of the 18th edition of IPL. DC accomplished their Super Over target of scoring 12 runs by scoring 13 runs in four balls without losing any wickets.
