IPL 2025: New Zealand and Gujarat Titans’ Glenn Phillips has surprised the world by leaving the Gujarat Titans, and though the actual reasons behind his departure are unknown, it’s rumored that the New Zealand all-rounder might be injured. An official word from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) should follow soon.
Phillips, aged 28, was one of New Zealand’s most impressive players in the recently concluded Champions Trophy, in which the Kiwis finished runners-up to India. His outstanding performance made him an obvious choice for Gujarat Titans, who acquired him at his base price of Rs 2 crore at the auction.

Injury During SRH Match
Famous for his explosive ability and quick fielding, Phillips stunned the crowd with a string of dramatic catches throughout the tournament, played across Pakistan and Dubai. Sources indicate that he suffered an injury in Gujarat Titans’ away match against Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 6.
Interestingly, Phillips hasn’t been part of any of the Titans’ games so far this season in the IPL. It is still uncertain whether the franchise would seek an urgent replacement. Ahead of their next away game on Saturday, April 12 against Lucknow Super Giants, officials of the franchise have not commented on the incident.
