IPL 2025: In the 29th game, Mumbai Indians surpassed Delhi Capitals with a 12-run win at Arun Jaitley Stadium, New Delhi, claiming their second victory in the season. The closely fought victory earned MI two vital points to their count, bringing them to 4 points from 6 games (2 wins, 4 defeats) and to seventh position in the standings.
Gujarat Titans Take the Lead After DC’s First Loss
This match was Delhi Capitals’ first loss of the season after a remarkable string of four back-to-back wins. Despite that loss, DC is still in second position with 8 points after 5 games. Gujarat Titans, however, have now taken over the number one position because of a better net run rate as well, with 8 points off 6 games.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru are at third following their recent victory against Rajasthan Royals, and Lucknow Super Giants are at fourth—both teams also have 8 points. Kolkata Knight Riders are fifth with 6 points.

Playoff Pressure Mounts on Four Teams
Even after their recent victory, Mumbai Indians continue to have a long way to go to reach the playoffs. They’re in the danger zone along with Rajasthan Royals, Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Chennai Super Kings. All four teams have played 6 matches, but aside from CSK, all of them have only 4 points to their name.
To remain in the playoff hunt, these teams need to win at least 5 of their last 8 games—and preferably by big margins to enhance their net run rate. For Chennai, the task is even more daunting; they need at least 6 more victories to enter the top four.
The battle is intensifying rapidly, and each game from now on could be a possible decider.
