IPL 2025: Rishabh Pant has made history in the IPL 2025 mega auction, becoming the most expensive player ever in the league. The bidding war for Pant was intense, with Lucknow Super Giants securing him for a whopping Rs 27 crore, surpassing Shreyas Iyer’s previous record of Rs 26.75 crore set in the same auction, when Punjab Kings bid for Iyer.

Pant’s Auction Drama

The auction room erupted as soon as Pant’s name was called. Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Punjab Kings were the first to place bids, sparking a fierce battle for the talented wicketkeeper-batsman. Lucknow Super Giants soon joined the fray, raising their offers steadily. Sunrisers Hyderabad also entered the race, but Lucknow made the decisive bid of Rs 27 crore.

When Delhi Capitals invoked the Right to Match (RTM) card to try to retain Pant, Lucknow countered with their final bid, and Delhi ultimately backed out, securing Pant’s move to Lucknow Super Giants for IPL 2025.
