A discussion about MS Dhoni’s future raged when the Chennai Super Kings prepared for their final game against the Gujarat Titans in IPL 2025. Suresh Raina, Sanjay Bangar, RP Singh and Aakash Chopra discussed in the pre-match show if it was time for MS Dhoni to end his cricket career. Chopra and Bangar argued ‘for’ the issue, but RP and Raina opposed it. Even so, things became very heated and people on both sides made strong arguments in their defense.
Converstion During Debate About MS Dhoni
Aaksh Chopra: If MS Dhoni wasn’t an uncapped Indian, would he have been a part of the CSK team this year?
Suresh Raina: Absolutely, he has been with the team for 18 years. Even now, he hits the most sixes.
Aakash Chopra: The point is, why is he batting at No. 7, No. 8 or No. 9. Your team isn’t batting well, the problems are coming from the top order. Should such a big player bat higher up? Why the reluctance? Is he even fit or not?
Suresh Raina: He feels he is more comfortable in the final four overs. He is fit, keeping wickets at the age of 44. He did an interview in the middle, saying a team for the World Cup (T20) is being made, hence he wants to give others like Shivam Dube more chances.
RP Singh: After a knee surgery, he is bound to take time. Every player does. He has been keeping for 20 years, manages himself. Raina also had a knee operation done. He managed himself for some time and eventually recovered.
MS Dhoni’s Performance In IPL 2025
Fans had expected MS Dhoni to play much better than he actually has in IPL 2025 and that is still true. Dhoni collected a total of 196 runs across his 14 matches in the season. His highest innings was 30 and he didn’t score a 50 or 100, but he often timed his hits when his team needed them. Dhoni stuck to his typical calm and composure during pressure situations, always scoring around 24.50. Late in his career, he was still very important, using his wisdom and talent to help his team score runs at the right time.
