Mumabi Indians’ Rohit Sharma was proud of his influential knock on Friday against Gujarat Titans, but he wished he had more half-centuries than the four he managed in the IPL. By hitting 81 off 50 balls, Rohit Sharma led his team to 228 for 5 which was too strong for GT and resulted in a 20 runs win. This victory helped MI reach qualifier 2 and face PBKS on June 1 in the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad.
Rohit Sharma’s Statement
“I’ve got only four fifties (this IPL season). I think I would have liked to get more. I do understand the importance of playing the Eliminator and it was a complete team performance,” said Rohit during the post-match presentation.
“It’s trying to understand how I can play my best. Today, after having the luck going my way, I knew I had to make the most of it. I’m glad I could do that, and get the team into a good position.

“We knew it would be slightly challenging with the dew coming in. I’ve played all those shots in the game before, and unfortunately, I found fielders. I got lucky as those catches got dropped.” Rohit praised his opening partner, Jonny Bairstow, for contributing to a powerful start to the MI innings.
“I’ve watched Bairstow over the years from the other side. We know what he can do upfront with the bat. He took his chances, and it came off. We always look for that kind of start,” said Rohit.
MI Vs GT Match Highlights
MI won the IPL 2025 Eliminator by 20 runs over GT which allowed them to move on to Qualifier 2. MI won the game thanks in large part to Rohit Sharma’s 50-ball 81 and Jasprit Bumrah’s parsimonious spell. After being given the toss, MI elected to bat and put up a huge score of 228/5 in their 20 overs, helped by good performances from Jonny Bairstow, Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma and Hardik Pandya. Shubman Gill was out in the first over for GT, but some huge contributions from Sai Sudharsan and Washington Sundar helped them stay in the match. After their victory, MI will have a Qualifier 2 match against PBKS.
