India won the T20 World Cup for the second time by defeating South Africa in a nail-biting final at Barbados. The 30-year-old Bumrah led the T20 World Cup-winning team with 15 wickets in a span of eight games at a mind-boggling average of 8.26 and an unbelievable economy rate of 4.17. Bumrah started his forceful campaign with 2/6 over Ireland and contributed to India winning over arch-rivals Pakistan with bowling credentials of 3/14. He also took six wickets in the Super 8 phase and followed it with a spell of 2/12 as India beat England in their semi-final game.

Bumrah also bowled a breathtaking spell of 2/18 in the final against the Proteas and assisted India in winning an ICC trophy for the first time in more than a decade. He was just the second Indian after Virat Kohli, who has won it twice, to be named the ICC men’s T20 Player of the Tournament.
