A blockbuster match has been announced for the show. John Cena will defend his Undisputed WWE Championship against CM Punk. Fans had been eagerly waiting for this showdown.
John Cena is currently on his retirement tour and has limited time left in the ring. He won the title by defeating Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 41. John Cena’s Segment on WWE Raw
John Cena took a jab at R-Truth during his segment. Cena revealed that he only has 19 dates left and now wants a real fighter to challenge him. That’s when CM Punk made his entrance. Punk said he has come as the voice of the people and mocked Cena, saying he’s making the wrong choices. The “Best in the World” then officially challenged Cena for the title.
Cena agreed to face Punk one final time and said that Punk would have to come to Saudi Arabia for the Night of Champions. WWE later made the match official. The segment between them featured intense promos. Punk now has the opportunity to become World Champion by defeating Cena, which would be a monumental achievement.
When was the last singles match between John Cena and CM Punk?
John Cena and CM Punk had a fierce rivalry between 2009 and 2013. Their matches were always highly anticipated by fans. Their first encounter was on the November 23, 2009 episode of Raw. Their last singles match took place on February 25, 2013, also on Raw. Their WWE Championship match at Money in the Bank 2011 remains their most iconic bout.
Now, 12 years later, Cena and Punk will face off in a singles match once again, this time in Saudi Arabia in what is set to be a historic encounter. Punk had recently been involved in a rivalry with Seth Rollins but has now shifted his focus. He has long dreamed of becoming World Champion, and this could finally be his moment.
