England Player Jos Buttler has stepped down as the captain for England. This might be due to the poor performance of the team in the Champions Trophy as well as the India tour earlier this year. England is at the bottom of the Group B with 2 losses in 2 matches. It has failed to earn any points in this Champions Trophy edition and has a net run rate of -0.305. England is already out of the tournament and will play the last group-stage match against South Africa tomorrow.

England’s campaign in this Champions Trophy has been very disappointing. Despite making the highest ever score against Australia and Ben Duckett making the highest runs by any batter in Champions Trophy history by making 165 runs, they could not refrain Australia from breaching their massive total of 351 runs. In return Australia made 356 runs with Josh Inglis scoring 120* and Alex Carrey giving a hand in the run chase

Later against Afghanistan, the English team let Ibrahim Zadran to breach Ben Duckett’s score. He made 177 runs against England which helped them defeat England by 8 runs. Jos Buttler himself failed to create an impact in this Champions Trophy. He only managed to make 61 runs in its two faceoffs against Afghanistan and Australia
Probable captain
Harry Brook, who is currently the Vice-Captain of the team will most probably lead the team after Jos Brook. Joe Root who has been the former captain of England is also a leading contender of captaincy. Other than these two names, Liam Livingstone who also captained England during the West Indies’ tour seems a promising future captain.
