The first race of Lewis Hamilton’s Ferrari start finished at position ten during the 2025 Australian Grand Prix on Sunday. From eighth position Hamilton managed to finish tenth despite active competition from McLaren pilot Lando Norris. The beginning segment of the race became challenging for Hamilton when Williams driver Alex Albon restricted him from passing. The race scenario improved for him until lap 46 when his leading position occurred due to competitors choosing new intermediate tire sets during their pit stops.

The race during his challenging day culminated in a bitter finish where Oscar Piastri passed Hamilton on the last lap to relegate him from ninth to tenth position thus reducing his total championship point total to one. Hamilton encountered Ferrari grip problems throughout his race along with unclear strategic instructions which demonstrated that Prancing Horse needed increased development to reach competitive speeds again.
