PSG showed their Ligue 1 leadership by winning 3-1 against Marseille through an exciting match. PSG started the match by claiming dominance soon after kick-off when Ousmane Dembélé scored in the 17th minute. The half ended with PSG leading by two goals because Nuno Mendes scored seconds before the break. Amine Gouiri scored for Marseille when he netted in the 51st minute of the match. The 76th minute brought PSG victory when Pol Lirola scored an unfortunate own goal. PSG retained control throughout the match due to their dominant gameplay and defensive strength while Marseille attempted to rally toward the end but it was not enough for victory at the Parc des Princes.
PSG’s Midfield Brilliance And Marseille’s Inefficiency In Attack
With their superior ball control, PSG dominated the game from the very onset, establishing themselves early in the first half. Equally important for the decimation of the defense of the castle of Marseille were Bruno Fernandes and Fabián Ruiz. The pressing runs from Ousmane Dembélé and Nuno Mendes’ wide positions to create circular build_aucirpling attacks were greatly facilitated by the Dembélé and Mendes wing movement for the whole game. Little quality goals scored from these mightily promising attacking plays from Marseille did not quite impact the game. But why is this so? Even with Amine Gouiri’s goal striking hope for a potential comeback goal, Willian Pacho and Lucas Hernández did too good of a job shielding any further attacking chances.
